Today, the judge for rights and freedoms at the Dâmbovița Tribunal was notified with a proposal for the preventive arrest of the person under investigation for 30 days," announced the Dâmbovița County Police Inspectorate.
The detained official is the mayor of Crevedia, Florin Petre.
The mayor of Crevedia came into national public attention after the explosion of the gas depot operating in the locality without all the necessary permits. He is a party colleague of the mayor of Caracal, Ion Doldurea, who is the father of one of the owners of the depot where the explosions occurred, resulting in the death of five people, over 50 injuries, and the destruction of several buildings in the commune.
In the first session held after the explosion, the Crevedia Local Council approved a decision granting land to the brother of a councilor of the mayor.
"My brother is currently living in my brother's house. How long will they keep him and where will he sleep? Is that not mentioned? He never had a house, he has been a help, not just since I came to the town hall as a councilor. He has had the request for a long time. It wasn't put on the agenda yesterday. This has been going on for months. I wasn't even a councilor, I had nothing to do with the town hall when it was decided to give him a house. (…) He also wants to get married. Isn't that a priority?" explained the councilor at that time.
