Romanian Meteorologists have issued multiple red code warnings for heavy rain in localities in the counties of Galați, Bacău, Vaslui, and Iași starting from Friday night. At the same time, there is also a red code for floods.
There are areas where it has rained even 170 mm. More specifically, it rained in 12 hours as much as in 3 months. And the effects are devastating.
Four people have died in Galați county.
Several roads are closed, and a few cars have been swept away by water.
Rail traffic is blocked between Galați and Bârlad.

In some places, the flood reaches 1-1.5 meters, and locals have taken refuge in attics, on rooftops, on cars, or on trucks. Hundreds of people are waiting to be rescued from flooded houses.
Two fishery dams have collapsed, and firefighters from 7 counties have been called in to intervene in the most affected areas in Galați. Even a Black Hawk helicopter has been dispatched for search and rescue missions.
There is a congestion of politicians involved in an electoral year. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has canceled his schedule in Botoșani and will go to Galați county to "evaluate the situation." The Minister of Internal Affairs Cătălin Predoiu has also arrived in the affected areas. In Bucharest, Minister Alexandru Rafila has set up a crisis cell at the Ministry of Health.

The weather news is not encouraging. Half of the country is under a yellow code warning for heavy rain. Three counties - Botoșani, Iași, and Vaslui - are targeted by an orange code warning.
