Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that, unlike the United States, Europe wants the war to continue.
„Now, after Joe Biden’s term, people have arrived at the White House who want to be guided by common sense. They openly say they want to end all wars and seek peace. Who is asking for the ‘party to continue’ in the form of a war? Europe,” said the Russian diplomacy chief in an interview published Sunday by the military media group Krasnaia Zvezda, as reported by EFE and Reuters.
Lavrov insisted that the United States wants to remain the most powerful country in the world and that Washington and Moscow will never agree on all issues, but have agreed to be pragmatic when their interests coincide.

"Donald Trump is a pragmatist. But the goal is still MAGA (Make America Great Again)," added Lavrov, referring to Trump's political slogan, "Let's restore the greatness of America."
"This gives politics a lively, human character. That's why it's interesting to work with him," Lavrov praised Trump.
He added that, "in the last 500 years - when the West was more or less formed in the way it has come to us today, naturally, with some changes - all the tragedies in the world originated in Europe or were caused by European politics."
Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 with thousands of troops, triggering the largest confrontation between Russia and the West since the peak of the Cold War.
According to Lavrov, "if we look back at history, Americans did not play any role in instigating or triggering" these events.
"I don't want to be anti-European. However, the current situation confirms the idea expressed by many historians," he maintained.
Russian Foreign Minister recalled that American President Donald Trump says that his country's position in any conflict should be based on common sense.
And in the case of Ukraine, "Washington's common sense tells them to stay out," Lavrov added.
Lavrov argued that Europeans could not explain what rights Russian speakers would have within European peacekeeping plans, adding that Russia does not like the idea of Europeans supporting Zelenski.
He warned that a deployment of European peacekeeping troops in Ukraine, a possibility discussed by some of Kiev's allies, would mean that the reasons that led to the war would persist for Russia.
