Iran presented on Saturday a list of demands that the United States should meet before Tehran reopens maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, including ending the naval blockade, lifting sanctions, and paying war reparations.
„Until the United States corrects its behavior, the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened,” said Mohammad Baqer Zolgadr, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in a statement carried by the state news agency IRNA and quoted by EFE.
Zolgadr listed seven conditions that, according to Tehran, would constitute a "behavior correction" by Washington.
Among these, he mentioned:
- lifting the naval blockade imposed on Iran;
- ending sanctions;
- unblocking Iranian assets;
- providing compensation for damages caused by what he called "two imposed wars";
- ceasing threats against Iran;
- halting military operations against the country and its regional allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq;
- withdrawing American military forces deployed around the Islamic Republic.
The request for reparations was also included in the memorandum of understanding signed in mid-June.

"These are the demands of the Iranian people," Zolgadr stated.
The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council insisted that the institution "will never back down," neither militarily nor in negotiations.
These statements follow similar remarks made by other senior Iranian officials, including the Foreign Minister and the spokesperson for the Revolutionary Guards, who have conditioned the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz on the United States accepting certain conditions.
